Stadium Overview

BC Place is a retractable-roof stadium in the heart of downtown Vancouver, capacity 54,500. It hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics opening and closing ceremonies and the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup final. For the 2026 FIFA World Cup, it will host group stage matches and potentially knockout rounds.

The stadium sits between the False Creek waterfront and the downtown core, making it one of the most accessible major stadiums in North America. The retractable roof means matches go ahead rain or shine.

Seating & Views

BC Place has three seating tiers. Lower bowl seats are closest to the pitch and have the most atmosphere — they fill up fastest and are most expensive. Club level (200s) offers covered seating with premium food and drink options. Upper deck (500s) provides a bird's-eye view of the full pitch — good for tactical watching, and the cheaper tickets.

For group-stage matches, any seat in the lower bowl will give you an excellent view. If you're in the upper deck, bring binoculars for close-up action. The roof keeps out rain but the stadium can get loud in all seating areas — BC Place has excellent acoustics.

Gates & Entry

BC Place has gates on all sides. Gate A (north, facing Robson Street) is the primary entrance and gets crowded — arrive 60–90 minutes before kickoff if using this gate. Gate B (south, False Creek side) is less congested for fans coming from Yaletown or the seawall.

Tickets are digital — download your FIFA app ticket before arriving. Screenshot it as a backup. Security lines open 2 hours before kickoff. For high-profile matches expect airport-style screening.

Food & Drink

BC Place has concession stands throughout all levels. Expect the usual stadium fare — hot dogs, burgers, fries, and pizza — plus some Canadian options like poutine. Prices are stadium prices (expect $12–18 for a meal, $12–14 for a beer).

Outside food is generally not allowed in, but sealed water bottles (500ml or smaller) are permitted. The club level has sit-down restaurant options that require a reservation or club-level ticket.

Alcohol is served throughout the stadium. Last call is typically 15 minutes into the second half.

Bag Policy

FIFA enforces a strict bag policy. Only clear bags are permitted — maximum 30cm × 30cm × 15cm. Small clutch bags (roughly phone-sized) in any colour are allowed. Backpacks, large purses, and camera bags are not permitted unless clear.

Buy a clear bag before match day — they're widely available at drugstores and sporting goods stores. Do not arrive at gate security with a non-compliant bag; storage facilities are limited and you may be turned away.

Accessibility

BC Place is fully wheelchair accessible with dedicated viewing areas at multiple levels. Accessible parking is available in the adjacent lots on a first-come basis — book through the official ticketing platform. Accessible washrooms are on every level.

Companions of wheelchair users are seated adjacent. Audio description headsets and large-print programs are available on request from the accessibility desk at Gate A.

Getting There

Driving is not recommended — parking is limited, expensive ($40–60 on match days), and roads around the stadium are congested for hours before and after. If you must drive, book parking in advance.

• Arrive 90 minutes early for big matches — security queues are long.
• Charge your phone before leaving — digital tickets drain batteries.
• Wear layers — the retractable roof keeps the stadium surprisingly cool even on warm days.
